Grounded Counseling
I help individuals understand what’s driving their struggles—especially with food and body—and support real, sustainable change through collaborative, goal-focused therapy.

If you’re here, something isn’t working the way you want it to.
Maybe food has become a coping tool.
Maybe anxiety or stress feels constant.
Maybe a life transition, loss, or long-standing pattern has left you feeling stuck.
You don’t need a label to be here.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need support from someone who understands both the emotional and physical layers of what you’re experiencing.
I’m a licensed professional counselor with a background as a registered dietitian.
My primary specialty is disordered eating, and I’ve worked almost exclusively in this area for over a decade. I provide in-person and virtual sessions.
How I Work
My approach is:
-
We work as a team.
-
Therapy is for change, not endless talking.
-
We look beneath behaviors to understand what’s driving them.
-
We integrate nervous-system and somatic awareness when helpful.
It’s about understanding your story, your nervous system, and your patterns—so change is possible.
What I Help With
You don’t need to fit into a diagnosis to recognize yourself here.
Eating disorders, disordered eating, chronic dieting, body image distress, and food-related anxiety.
(This is my primary specialty.)
Difficulty trusting yourself, setting boundaries, or knowing what you need.
What to Expect
-
When we connect, we’ll briefly talk to see if working together feels like a good fit.
-
Once we agree to move forward, I’ll schedule your first session and send secure intake paperwork electronically.
-
This is a comprehensive “getting to know you” session.
We’ll cover:Your concerns and goals
Relevant history
Family, relationships, and past experiences
This helps us work efficiently and intentionally going forward.
-
Therapy is active and collaborative.
We set realistic goals together and adjust as needed.I listen—but I also challenge when it’s helpful.
You’re here for change, and we keep that front and center. -
Some clients meet their goals and “graduate.”
Others move to less frequent sessions for maintenance or check-ins.The door is always open to return.
When helpful, I collaborate with dietitians, physicians, treatment centers, other therapists, and supportive family members (with consent).
Eating disorder recovery works best when care is coordinated and ethical.
Releases of information are always obtained, and confidentiality is taken seriously.
Coordinated Care
About Cathy, LPC, RD
I’ve worked in eating disorder treatment for over 11 years, including 3.5 years in an eating disorder treatment facility. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Registered Dietitian (RD), and am working towards becoming a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP).
What matters most to me is protecting clients from harmful, oversimplified approaches—especially in work involving food and bodies.
I believe people struggle when they are critical of their behaviors versus approaching them with curiosity.
I believe behaviors make sense when we understand the full context.
My role is to help you slow down, understand what’s underneath, and build a safer, more compassionate relationship with yourself.
